The workings of vision The eye structure in human beings contains Rods, which the body uses for contrast shapes. There are over 120 million Eye Rods in the human eye.The eye Rods being more sensitive then their cousins, the Cones. The cone cells are color sensitive and the human eye has over 5 million of them. Cones preform well in brighter lights. As photons hit Photo-receptors in the Cones and the Rods of the eye, Photo transduction occurs. Light is changed to a electrical signal. Photo-receptors in the Cones contain a number of color sensitive molecules and they send the information down the Optic nerve. Then to the back of the brain engaging receptor cells. Superficial information is discarded. Cells reside in the visual cortex that accomplish different task. Detection of motion and 3D images and so on. Research indicates that the superficial information that is removed and the capacity to fill in blank spots, is dependent on factors not controlled or predicted by memory.
